The Austin Air HealthMate Plus air purifier is the ultimate product available in the Austin Air lineup of air purification. This machine removes toxic gas and other pollutants from indoor air with the help of a 4 stage filtration system. The Austin Air HealthMate Plus is designed to clean benzene, wood smoke formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the air in addition to your standard daily indoor air pollutants. This unit is also capable of trapping 99.97% of all polluting particulates down to 0.3 microns and is capable of cleansing the air for areas up to 1500 square feet. What is the difference between the HealthMate and the HealthMate Plus? Both of these air purifiers offer a True Medical HEPA filter and granular carbon and zeolite. The filtration system on the HealthMate Plus is comprised of four independent stages. Stage one is the large particle pre-filter which works to remove pollutants seen by the naked eye including dust, hair, and pet dander. Following this top-level filtration, stage two is comprised of a medium particle pre-filter which removes smaller to medium-sized pollutants including molds, spores, and pollens. Stage three offers an important filtration to those sensitive to gases and is the filter responsible for removing VOCs. This filter is comprised of 15 pounds of impregnated activated carbon and zeolite to effectively remove chemicals, gases, and odors. Finally, in stage 4 the air passes through 60 square feet of certified HEPA filtration media which removes 99.97% of all particles larger than 0.3 microns.
